JOSÉ AFONSO VENHAM MAIS CINCO
Protest song, traditional Portuguese
Venham mais Cinco is an album of original songs by José Afonso. It was recorded in Paris with the help of José Mário Branco and released on Christmas 1973, being José Afonso's last album before the April Revolution.
On this album, the singer signs some of his songs that have become classics, such as "Venham Mais Cinco", "A Formiga no Carreiro" or "Que Amor Não me Engana", but also some poems of an almost surreal nature, such as such as "Rio Largo de Profundis", "Nefretite Não Tinha Papeira" or "Era uma Redondo Vocábulo", whose poem was written during the period of detention in Caxias, and which also became one of his great classics.
